The Local Area

Enjoy the seclusion of The New Forest or the lively market town of Lymington ...

Ponies roam freely in The New ForestWe are in a remarkable corner of the English countryside set aside as a special place more than nine centuries ago by William the Conqueror as his 'New' hunting forest. The landscape is unique and traditions exist here that are unchanged since medieval times. The New Forest's ancient woodlands and wilderness heathers remain largely intact where ponies and cattle still have the right of way as they freely graze the land. Deeper in the forest wild deer browse beneath canopies of mighty oak and beech - natural scenes unchanged by the modern world.

Lymington is a lively yachting and sailing town at the mouth of the Lymington River, where The Isle of Wight ferry operates from here to Yarmouth. The lanes and streets around the Quayside retain the flavour of an old harbour town with Georgian and Victorian cottages, houses and unique shops. The bustling High Street supports an excellent variety of shopping and has a market every Saturday.

The Quay at LymingtonLymington is an ideal location for water sports enthusiasts or just exploring the beauty and heritage of the ancient forest. A new 9 hole Golf Course has been developed only 10 minutes away - Walhampton Golf Course situated near the Isle of Wight Ferry in an enviable position with views extending to the Isle of Wight.
